I happened upon his blank page earlier today. May his spirit rest in peace. Somewhere in the Cloud he will still patrol Swampland. If he left the Web by his own hand one must have sympathy for him and his but if his departure from his meteoric on line ascent as one of the country`s most read bloggers was hastened by the snares, snarls and threats of those who pay the wages which allowed him to put food on the family dining table one must be fearful for others whose heads do not relish chopping blocks.

I was looking for notes from Ruralshire earlier in the week and found the latest to be dated middle of last year. I assumed some irksome caching error with my browser and gave up. I realise now it was Gadget half way through deploying the escape pod.
In my curiosity to discover the terms of his departure I found the link below from his publisher which is emphatic that the decision to go was his alone. [See postings and comments from 11th and 13th of March.]

Why no valedictory message, though?

A great loss. His blogs were informative, often moving, frequently controversial and always of interest. It gave us the opportunity to learn what is really happening on the steeets of this country. A salutary experience for members of the judiciary who may be so out of touch with reality.
